My mom was kind enough to compile some pictures she took for me of items that belonged to or were related to my Great Grandma Pearl. I wrote a research paper about her for my family history class. We are very fortunate to have so many items that belonged to her. The first two pictures are carvings in soap stone which was a popular thing to do in those days. We assume they were done by Pearl's father for her mother Lillie. The first one has E, J, G on the top and L, A, C on the bottom. The initials stand for "Edward John Carlisle" and Lillie Anne Carlisle." Edward John's real name was "John Edward Carlisle." We don't know why he occasionally changed his name around. The second soap stone says "Lilli A" which stands for Lillie Ann. It looks like he couldn't fit the "e" on the end of her name. We don't know who did the name cards, but the lettering is beautiful.

This cluster is about Pearl's mother. Her name was Lillie (or Lillian or Lillias) Horner before she married John Edward Carlisle. The first two pictures are a continuation of the same letter. I took them up close so you could read them. Lillie died not too long after this letter. You can see her initials on the gold barrett (it would have belonged to her before she married). You can see the labels under each picture.
These items are in a shadow box located in my house in Salem Oregon.
